Gabriella Baldo completed a hat-trick just seven minutes into the match, and USCB women’s soccer kicked off Sun Conference play in style Thursday with a 10-0 rout at Florida Memorial.
The junior midfielder pulled off an unbelievable feat, scoring three goals within the opening 6:49 of the contest. She tallied her first in the fifth minute, dashing towards the net on a breakaway and sneaking the ball inside the far post.
Just 51 seconds later, Baldo faked out the keeper and slotted it in the back of the net before completing the trifecta in the seventh minute on a Synne Bye-Andersen assist. The stellar freshman added a goal of her own on a blast from the far corner in the 9th minute, and Madison Foshee extended the lead to 6-0 with a pair of goals just 73 seconds apart.
Madeline Matusik capped off the dominant first half, knocking in a Foshee cross to take a commanding 7-0 lead into the break. Isabella Jakobs drilled a 20-yard free kick into the net in the 49th minute, and leading Sand Shark scorer Mari Kalvatn put two more on the board to finish it off.
USCB (7-3, 1-0) faces a stiff challenge Saturday at No. 23 St. Thomas.
