HS GGOLF: Dolphins down Sharks in battle of defending state champs

Hilton Head Prep girls golf won a clash of defending state champions on Thursday, easily outpacing  SCHSL Class 4A champion May River in an 18-hole match at Colleton River’s Nicklaus Course.

Led by co-medalists Camila Burnett and Olivia Wilkie, the Dolphins carded a team total of 312 to easily defeat the Sharks’ team score of 360.

Burnett and Olivia Wilkie, a recent University of Richmond commit, each shot 4-over-par 76, tying May River’s Kylie Bowes for the low round of the day. HHP’s Bridget Wilkie fired a 78, and Nina Morgan shot 82 to round out the Dolphins’ terrific team total.

Bowes led the way for the Sharks, followed by Robbin Zetrouer (86), Claire Green (93), and Hailey Aipperspach (105).

The match was put together to prepare both teams for the upcoming WSCJGA High School Invitational, a 36-hole event next weekend in Florence featuring the top public and private school programs in the state.
