The Bluffton All-Stars kept up their hot hitting Sunday at the Dixie Youth Baseball AAA (10U) World Series in Laurel, Mississippi, as Team South Carolina erupted for eight runs in the first inning and cruised to a 16-5 win over Virginia in four innings to improve to 2-0 in the tournament.

The Lowco squad sent all 12 batters to the plate in the top of the first, as Finn Boyles led off the eight-run frame with a triple, and Nicholas Carpenter, Henry Numssen, Austin Broene, Charlie Nelson, Capers Crosby, and Truman Jarrett all knocked in runs before Virginia came to bat.

Virginia clawed back with a pair of runs in the bottom half and three more in the second to trim the deficit to 8-5, but the Bluffton bats heated up again in a six-run third. Carpenter roped an RBI double, and Nic Farrugia and Numssen followed with back-to-back triples to break it open.

Caleb Malphrus came through with a two-run single in the fourth to extend the margin to 11 runs, and Broene slammed the door to finish off an outstanding relief outing and seal a second consecutive run-rule victory.

Farrugia pitched 1 1/3 innings and allowed four unearned runs on just one hit and one walk with two strikeouts, and Broene pitched the final 2 2/3, allowing an unearned run but no hits or walks and striking out one.

Farrugia continued his red-hot hitting, going 3-for-3 with a double, a triple, and two RBIs, while Numssen was 2-for-3 with a triple and drove in two. Boyles was 2-for-4 in the leadoff spot, and Carpenter and Malphrus each had a hit and two RBIs.

Bluffton faces Team Alabama at 8:15 p.m. ET in a matchup of two of the three remaining undefeated teams in the double-elimination bracket.
