Colleton Prep softball breezed into the SCISA 2A state championship series with three impressive wins Friday and Saturday in Sumter.
The War Hawks tossed a pair of shutouts Friday, blanking Williamsburg Academy 5-0 and dropping Carolina Academy 2-0, before beating Calhoun Academy 7-2 on Saturday to advance to the best-of-three championship series against Pee Dee Academy starting Monday.
Haley Bootle struck out 10 and allowed three hits and four walks in a shutout of Williamsburg to open the double-elimination Lower Bracket. The Cougars staked her to a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the first before tacking on another run in the second. Leadoff hitter Weslin Jones was 2-for-3 with a double and scored twice, and Taylor Tomedolskey and Linley Jones each added RBI singles for Colleton Prep .

Bootle kept it rolling later Friday against Carolina Academy, racking up seven strikeouts with three hits and two walks in a second straight shutout. Weslin Jones again set the tone at the top of the order, going 2-for-3 with a double, and Becca Martin broke a scoreless tie with a two-run double in the seventh, scoring Bootle and Weslin Jones.
The War Hawks again jumped out to an early lead in the finale against Calhoun Academy, scoring three runs in the bottom of the first and adding single tallies in the second and third to build a 5-1 lead. That was plenty of support for Bootle, who allowed two runs on five hits with seven strikeouts and two walks in another complete game. Linley Jones was 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and an RBI, and Weslin Jones was 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI, and three runs for CPA.
The War Hawks (14-2) travel to Pee Dee Academy for the opener of the best-of-three championship series Monday and host game 2 on Tuesday. If a third game is necessary, it will be played Wednesday at a neutral site to be determined.
