May River boys soccer bounced back from an emotional defeat to beat visiting Lucy Beckham 4-2 on Monday in Region 7-4A play.
Renty Kitty sparked the Sharks to the key region victory, scoring two goals and creating numerous scoring threats throughout the night.
The Bengals found the back of the net first in the seventh minute, but Kitty responded with a pair of goals before halftime for a 2-1 lead. Fellow sophomore Nico Mieres tacked one on for May River in the second half, but Beckham capitalized on a defensive lapse from the Sharks to pull one back less than a minute later and get within 3-2.
The Sharks returned the favor, as the Bengals scored an own goal to seal the result.
May River was able to move the ball and consistently put pressure on Beckham’s goal throughout the night, while Sharks keepers Dallas Wisdom and Brayden Garcia were rarely threatened, combining for two saves in the win.
May River (8-5, 5-4) travels to Beaufort High on Thursday for the regular-season finale.
