Australian Cameron Smith cut through the swirling winds at Harbour Town Golf Links on Thursday to fire a career-low 62 and take a one-shot lead after the first round of the 2021 RBC Heritage Presented by Boeing.
Smith holed out from the greenside bunker at 17 and finished with a birdie at 18 to complete a bogey-free romp around Harbour Town and grab a one-shot advantage over two-time Heritage champion Stewart Cink. The 2000 and 2004 champion showed glimpses of his past success at Harbour Town with an 8-under 63 despite making bogey on the first hole.
Collin Morikawa and Matt Wallace are tied for third at 6-under, and a total of 16 players finished the first round at 4-under or better.
