Dawson Peters’ incredible resume got even better Tuesday. USCB’s senior standout captured his third individual title of the year with a two-shot victory in the Roadrunner Classic in Rocky Face, Georgia, firing a three-under 213 over 54 holes.
The tournament win is his fifth in two years as a Sand Shark, and the standout extended his top-15 finish streak to an incredible 18th straight event.
After going into the third and final round tied with Mason Domecq, Peters shot a strong 75 to top Domecq’s 77 and hold off Matthew Cleary’s 69 to claim the victory. The champion was consistent all day long to hold steady at the top, recording 14 pars with a birdie to close it out. Jonas Demant finished alone in 19th for the Sand Sharks with a 223, firing a 1-under 71 in the second round before posting a 75 to finish the tourney. The freshman carded four birdies on the day, the most for USCB in the final 18. Jacob Thomas finished the event with a 235, and Christoph Hagenauer was right behind recording a 236.
The Sand Sharks finished the tournament in fifth place out of 12 teams, as hosts Dalton State took the team title with a total score of 872, edging Keiser by four strokes.
USCB has now concluded the regular season and will set its sights on the Sun Conference Tournament beginning on April 25 at Savannah Quarters Country Club.
