John Paul II boys soccer earned a strong road win on Friday, defeating Philip Simmons on the road 2-0 in a weather-shortened contest.
After a slow start in the first 10 minutes, the Golden Warriors took advantage of a PSHS red card on a tackle of Anthony Hill. Nic Richardson made the Iron Horses pay, burying the ensuing free kick from 20 yards out to go up 1-0.
JPII struck again near the end of the first half on a gorgeous pass from Richardson to Hill, who sent a dazzling strike to the upper left corner. Just moments after halftime, the game was suspended due to lightning and was called a half-hour later, giving John Paul II the impressive road victory.
Evan Slusne made key saves in goal all game long and earned the well-deserved clean sheet for the Golden Warriors.
