Colleton Prep baseball got hot late to pull away from Beaufort Academy for a 14-4 home win Wednesday.
The Eagles jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the second before the War Hawks plated four in the bottom of the third to take the lead. BA answered with two in the top of the fourth to tie it, but CPA scored three times in the bottom half and added five more in the fifth before ending it early with two runs in the sixth.
Kyle Hooker had a monster day at the plate for the War Hawks, going 3-for-4 with a triple, a homer, three runs, and five RBIs. Colton Daniels was 2-for-4 with three runs and two RBIs, and Drew Murdaugh and Pete Peters each added two hits and scored three runs. Cole Gulotti and Hayden Williams each had a hit and two RBIs for CPA.
Gulotti walked five but didn’t allow a hit and surrendered just two unearned runs over 2 2-3 innings, and Peters went 3 1-3 in relief, allowing two unearned runs and four hits with four strikeouts and no walks.
The War Hawks (5-4, 4-1) plays at Branchville in a non-region game Friday.
BA plays a region game at Thomas Heyward on Friday.
