HS BSOC: Dolphins come up just short against Hawks

Ivan Huerta scored Battery Creek’s first goal of the season with 4:40 remaining in the second half, but Battery Creek couldn’t complete the comeback, falling 2-1 to Hanahan on Tuesday night.

The Hawks kept Creek off the scoreboard until Huerta was fouled inside the box, forcing a penalty kick. Huerta lined up the kick and sent it past the Hanahan goalkeeper, putting the Dolphins down one with just minutes to play.

The offense tried to find the equalizer in the waning minutes, but the Hawks were able to keep Creek at bay.

Battery Creek returns home Thursday, hosting Bishop England at 7:30 p.m.
