In its first action since Feb. 7, USCB softball delivered a dazzling performance Friday. Pitching standouts Ally Muraskin and Maria Molloseau combined for 17 strikeouts, and the Sand Sharks swept a road doubleheader with Brewton-Parker 4-3 and 4-0 to stay perfect on the season.
USCB quickly jumped out to a 3-1 lead in game one, scoring two runs in the first inning thanks to a two-RBI Hoolie Garcia single before Zinia Hampleton drove home another in the second.
The Sand Sharks tacked on one more in the seventh when Shania Domingue knocked in an RBI single to make it 4-1. The insurance tally proved to be important, as Brewton-Parker answered with two runs before Muraskin and the Sand Sharks held on to seal the 4-3 victory.
The Florida International transfer earned the complete game win, scattering four hits while striking out 10 and walking just one.
USCB took control early in the rematch, scoring all four runs in the second inning to build a commanding lead. Domingue drove in another run to open the scoring before a Bri Dunn sacrifice fly and Francie Gaskin double past the first baseman put the Sand Sharks up 4-0.
Molloseau shined on the hill, allowing just five hits through seven innings to earn a complete game shutout win.
The senior brought it from start to finish, striking out seven batters while holding the Barons off the board to lock down her third victory of the young season. Gaskin impressed at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a double and a pair of RBI.
USCB (6-0) returned home Saturday to face Division II foe Southern Wesleyan.
