HSBSB: BA routs Bridges in baseball’s return to campus

Baseball was welcomed back at Beaufort Academy with a 14-3 win over crosstown rival Bridges Prep on Thursday.

The Eagles struck out seven and took advantage of several walks and errors by the Bucs. Walker Day went 3-for-3 and reached on a walk, then did damage on the basepatch, swiping four bags and scoring twice. Braydon Dineen reached twice during the contest, using a walk and an error to get on board, and he drove in a run with a sacrifice fly.

The Eagles totaled just five hits, but the Bucs walked 11 and let nine of them come around to score.

BA (1-1) will renew its rivalry with Thomas Heyward on the diamond Thursday at BA.

Bridges (0-1) plays a scrimmage against John Paul II on Monday before hosting Estill for its home opener March 15 in Hardeeville.
