WSOC: Kalvatn first Sand Shark soccer star to earn NAIA Player of the Week honors

USCB sophomore Mari Kalvatn made history once again Tuesday, becoming the first Sand Shark to be named the NAIA Women’s Soccer Player of the Week.

The Sand Shark soccer standout tallied eight goals and four assists during the team’s two contests against Edward Waters College last week.

Kalvatn currently leads the Sand Sharks with 16 goals and has already broken the school’s single-season record. The previous record (15) was held by four-year Sand Shark standout Anna Gignilliat (2016-19).

Kalvatn looks to continue her strong play when the Sand Sharks take on South Georgia State in a scrimmage on March 14. The teams are set to kickoff at 1 p.m. at Fin Land Field.
