May River’s girls saw their season come to an end Saturday in the first round of the SCHSL 4A playoffs, falling to powerhouse North Augusta 64-18.
The Sharks knew they were in for a difficult test against the Yellowjackets, whose lone defeat came Dec. 4 against Cross Creek (Ga.). North Augusta ran its winning streak to 12 games and has held its last five opponents under 20 points.

Morgan Scott led the Sharks with six points, while seniors Charlotte Van Den Heuvel, Lucy Raisch, and Addison Black each added four points each.
The Sharks (11-6) were the surprise team in Region 7-4A, emerging as the runner-up to Bluffton despite massive roster turnover from the senior-laded squad that advanced to the Lower State finals a year ago.
It was the finale for a senior class led by post standout Jordan Bigham, who along with Van Den Heuvel, Raisch, Black, and MacKenzie Kronimus, helped establish May River as a perennial contender in the region.
With Scott and young guards Ari Bevan and Macey Dowe leading the way, the future appears bright for the Sharks.
