The Beaufort Academy Eagles earned another home region win Friday night, 62-49 over the visiting Colleton Prep War Hawks.
The War Hawks could not find an answer for Big Ben VanHise, who dominated in the paint while dropping in 24 points and grabbing 12 rebounds. Sully Gay complemented VanHise’s performance with 12 points and eight rebounds of his own.

Braxton Tolbert pulled down 10 rebounds, helping the Eagles amass a 40-27 edge over the War Hawks on the boards and score 44 of their 62 points in the paint.
“We went inside to (VanHise) and he had a really good game,” BA coach Bobby Smith said. “The team at times played really well, but as many times as we executed and played well, we would come down and throw the ball away or have a turnover. We need to improve on taking care of the ball.”
A trio of War Hawks scored in double digits to keep CPA in it, with eighth-grade phenom Melvin Teal Jr. leading the way with 20 points and 14 rebounds. CJ Dixon scored 12 points, and Naz Johnson added 11 for the War Hawks.
Beaufort Academy (9-9, 2-5) travels to Colleton Prep (7-13, 1-7) tonight for a rematch.
