HSBBB: Golden Warriors’ late rally falls short vs. Blazers

John Paul II’s boys fell just short in their bid to knock off first-place Bethesda Academy on Friday, losing 62-56 to the visiting Blazers.

The Golden Warriors couldn’t handle Bethesda’s energy in the first half, falling behind 31-16, but Mac Tamminen pushed his team in the locker room to orchestrate a comeback, and the Golden Warriors didn’t disappoint.

JPII gave the Blazers a run for their money down the stretch but couldn’t quite close the gap.

Mark Knight had another amazing shooting night with 25 points and five rebounds, Jeremiah Young added 11 points, and Jackson Ogden had 10 for JPII.

JPII travels to Colleton Prep for a region matchup Tuesday.

Bethesda also plays in a region game Tuesday, hosting Beaufort Academy.
