WSOC: Sand Sharks sweep Falcons to open spring slate

The USCB women’s soccer team started its spring season on a winning note, sweeping a pair of matches at Florida College.

The Sand Sharks blanked the Falcons 5-0 at Qualls Field on Thursday, then returned for a 6-0 shutout Saturday.

The Sand Sharks’ offense was on full display in both contests. Mari Kalvatn led the way for USCB, scoring twice in the first game and posting a hat trick Saturday. 

Isabella Ahlen Jakobs, Lexi Kaeser, and Madison Foshee each recorded one goal and one assist in Thursday’s matchup, while Madeline Matusik added a goal and three assists Saturday. 

Navie Webb had a goal and an assist in the rematch, while Marcela Shartouny scored a goal and Jakobs handed out two assists.

The Sand Sharks (7-6-0) will take a week off to rest before taking on Cumberlands (Ky.) in a neutral-site matchup at Georgia Gwinnett on Feb. 6.
