HSGBB: Golden Warriors avenge another early-season defeat

John Paul II’s girls finally took the court after a week of postponements with a popup game Friday at Habersham School in Savannah, and the Golden Warriors avenged an earlier home loss with a 36-29 victory.

After the Golden Warriors opened up an eight-point first-half lead, the Patriots started to turn up the heat surged ahead by three toward the end of the third quarter. JPII was able to recover and regain control to secure their win.

Maddie Heathcott was just short of another double-double with nine points and 11 rebounds along with four steals and two blocks. Bella Termini also contributed nine for the Golden Warriors, as well as six boards and five steals. Taylor Michael put up seven points and two steals, Cayce Graves added six poitns, seven rebounds, and two steals, and Brady Mahoney had seven deflections and two steals in a strong all-around defensive effort by JPII.

Caroline Gilmour returned from an injury for JPII and recorded three points and seven rebounds in her first action since Dec. 8.

JPII played another region game against Hilton Head Christian Academy on Saturday.
