“It is great to get out first win against a good opponent,” Rutherford said. “The guys wrestled tough and battled hard after having a long break. We have some work to clean up but a great performance overall.”
Sebastian Sanchez and Mitchell Emmert picked up pins to stake Creek to an early 12-6 lead, and Dreshaun Brown added to the margin with a decision at 182.
The Iron Horses won three straight matches to pull ahead 24-15, but Elmer Linares shifted the momentum with a major decision at 106, and forfeit wins for Aiden Northway and Bradley Smith combined with Sam Degroat’s win by disqualification and Gunnar Degroat’s major decision sealed the victory.
The Dolphins will be back in action Saturday when they take on John Paul 2 at home.
