The John Paul II volleyball team rallied after dropping the first two sets to claim a thrilling five-set road win over Memorial Day on Monday in Savannah.
The Golden Warriors bounced back from losing two close sets to win three straight for a 3-2 (22-25, 24-26, 25-10, 25-6, 15-13) non-region win over the Matadors.
After winning the first two sets, the Matadors were ready to claim victory until the Golden Warriors fought back with 15 straight points behind the service of Emma Sauls. The incredible run continued in the fourth set, as Sadie Moulton reeled off 17 straight to lead to a lopsided win, and JPII held on in a tight final frame.
The Golden Warriors changed the momentum at the service line, as Moulton racked up 11 aces, Sauls added six, and Cayce Graves had five. The hitting was just as sharp for the Golden Warriors with Caroline Gilmour leading the team with eight kills and Bella Termini adding six.
