May River hasn’t lost much the past three season, and the Sharks haven’t lost two in a row over that span. That didn’t change Friday, as May River bounced back from its first loss of the season in a big way, crushing Colleton County 46-14 on the road.
Ahmad Green rushed for three touchdowns and a two-point conversion and threw a TD pass to Andrew Mersberger to lead the Sharks’ offense. Garvin Douglas added a touchdown run, and Jonah Comfort booted a field goal for May River.
The Cougars came out strong and moved the ball early, but Eli Hall blocked a Colleton County field goal attempt and Darion Perry scooped it up and took it to the end zone to swing the momentum. Hall later came up with an interception to halt a promising Cougars drive and set up Green’s first touchdown run.
The Sharks (3-1) host Hilton Head High (2-0) in a key Region 7-4A matchup Friday with the winner taking the inside track for a spot in the condensed playoffs.
