HSFB: Rebels crush Cavs for 7th straight win

The Cinderella story of SCISA Class 1A was shattered Friday night, as two-time defending state champion Thomas Heyward Academy abruptly ended St. John’s Christian’s undefeated campaign with a resounding 41-6 road win.

Anthony Fripp rushed for 146 yards and a touchdown, JR Patterson added 140 yards and a score on the ground, and Peyton Bennett threw three TD passes to lead the way in the rout.

Bennett connected for two TDs to Brandon Howard and another to Bruzza Pusha, who rushed for 87 yards and added 89 receiving yards.

Preston Humbert’s pick-six highlighted a dominant defensive effort by the Rebels in shutting down a team that had scored at least 26 points in each of its first six games.

The Rebels (7-1, 3-0) can wrap up the region title with a home win over Bethesda Academy next Friday in a rematch of last year’s SCISA 1A championship game.
