HSFB: Dolphins crush Chargers to keep playoff hopes alive

Hilton Head Prep needed a road win to stop the bleeding of a five-game losing streak and stay in the SCISA Class 2A playoff picture, and the Dolphins delivered Friday, smashing Northwood Academy 52-6.

Tommy Stauffer rushed for 122 yards and two touchdowns on 12 carries, Harrison Green tossed three TD passes, and Carson King added two TD runs and caught a pair of TDs to power HHP to a critical win.

Gunnar Askeland also caught a touchdown pass, and Trevor Weldon booted a 37-yard field goal, and the Dolphins’ defense took care of the rest. HHP recovered five fumbles, including one that Paul Carrabba scooped up and returned it for a touchdown.

Will Alford had five tackles and Phoenix Betancourt added four for HHP.

The Dolphins (2-5-1, 1-2) face another must-win game Friday, hosting John Paul II with the final playoff spot from the region up for grabs.
