The Battery Creek volleyball team put together a dominant effort against visiting North Charleston on Tuesday at the Palace, sweeping the Cougars 3-0 (25-6, 25-5, 25-7) in Region 8-3A play.
One might have to look far into the record book to find another performance like the Dolphins put on. Battery Creek recorded an outstanding 61 service aces in the victory. Laiani McCullough (18), Amber Cooklin (15), and Caroline Malphrus (11) all recorded double-digit aces while Brooke Crosby, Kinley Webb and Emonee Johnson each recorded at least four.

Everything was going right for Creek in the first set, as Crosby opened the frame with back-to-back aces. Battery Creek then rattled off two separate runs of seven consecutive points, which helped end the first set 25-6.
In the second stanza, McCullough notched seven consecutive aces during a 12-0 run to help BCHS take a commanding lead. Fittingly, the stanza ended with another ace, ending in favor of the Dolphins, 25-5.
The final frame saw Battery Creek jump out to another large lead, at one point being up by 15. Malphrus notched her final ace of the evening before a couple of communication errors resulted in consecutive Cougar points. A service error ended the match with the Dolphins winning 25-7.
