HSVB: Rebels rally past Raiders for first win

Thomas Heyward volleyball rallied after dropping the first two sets to claim a thrilling five-set victory over visiting Dorchester Academy on Tuesday. 

After being swept in their first two matches of the season against Patrick Henry and Palmetto Christian, the Rebels found themselves down two sets again Tuesday, but they clawed back for a 21-25, 18-25, 25-18, 25-18, 15-12 victory. 


Returning standout Keleigh Bowers notched nine kills, 12 digs, and four aces, and setter Amelia Bonds collected 10 assists and 13 digs to go with six aces, but a pair of newcomers also made big contributions in the win. Middle hitter Natalie King racked up six kills and four blocks, and eighth-grader Brooke Smith added eight kills, eight digs, and three aces. 

THA (1-2) travels to Calhoun Academy at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
