If you missed out on the popular LowcoStrong t-shirt fundraiser for local charities, you have another chance to get your hands on one — but you’ll have to lace up your running shoes.
LowcoSports is partnering with a number of local charity beneficiaries to #LowcoMotivate our friends and neighbors to train for and participate in the LowcoStrong Virtual 5K the week of June 21, 2020.
“We’re all craving some physical competition, so we wanted to challenge each other to get in top shape and get the competitive juices flowing while maintaining social distancing as much as possible,” LowcoSports founder Justin Jarrett said.
Participants register online, then run or walk their 5K (3.1 miles) wherever they get your exercise any time on or before June 21. Competitors have the option to submit a photo or screenshot that clearly shows the distance, time, and date to be included in the compiled results to be posted online.
The best times verified by screenshots from recognized fitness apps will earn prizes with awards for the overall and age group winners. Age groups will include: 14-and-under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80+.
Other fun competitions will be incorporated into the event, including a contest between students, staff, alumni, and fans from local high schools with cross country style scoring.
“The idea is just to give people different reasons to get excited about participating in an event that will give people motivation to kick their fitness up a notch while supporting local charities,” Jarrett said. “Whether you’re doing it just for fun or to scratch that competitive itch, it’s a win-win for everyone involved.”
A $30 registration fee includes a digital copy of your customized race bib, a Bella+Canvas #LowcoStrong t-shirt, and a LowcoSports sticker. Participants also may opt for race registration only for $20. You will receive an invoice for your registration fee via PayPal after completing the form. A portion of your registration fee ($5) will be donated to the local charity you select below!
