They weren’t able to hold a signing ceremony and share the big moment with friends and family, but 11 Hilton Head Prep student-athletes realized a dream by signing National Letters of Intent this spring to continue their careers at the next level, the school announced Tuesday.
The group of 11 standouts bound for collegiate athletics careers includes a quintet of five golfers — Ashley Chow (SMU), Callie Burns (Regis), Rachata Winwon (Campbell), Maddie Frank (Charleston Southern), and Svarnika Bommakanti (Rose Hulman).
Tennis star Sayda Hernandez will play in the Big 10 at Indiana, Kierstin Clark will play soccer at Cleveland State, Matthew Monts will join the sailing team at Eckerd, Christian Britschge will play football at Sewanee, Cooper Kunich will play baseball at Erskine, and Matias Jesus Morales Videla will play soccer at Francis Marion.
The S.C. Independent Schools Association announced Wednesday it will not resume sports this school year, officially ending the spring season.
