May River qualified a program-record 12 wrestlers for the state tournament, including three individual champions, and Battery Creek had four qualifiers and one champ at the Class 3A Lower State wrestling qualifier Saturday at May River High School.
EJ Seman (106), Isham Peace (113), and Eli Hall (220) all claimed individual titles for the Sharks, who compiled 226 team points to easily outdistance second-place Gilbert (183).
Chad Hadden (120), Miguel Cavalheiro (138), and Anthon Funderburk (170) placed second for May River, while Mike Sunkins (138), Anthony Nelsen (145), Gabriel Juarez (152), and Rod Grant (195) were third, and Wyatt Banfield (160) and Donovan Ling (182) finished fourth.
Larson McManigle (145) captured the Dolphins’ lone title, while Sam DeGroat (106) was second, Johan Linares (126) was third, and George Reilly Smith was fourth.
The state championships are Friday and Saturday at the Anderson Civic Center.Â
