May River’s boys lost a penalty shootout to Class 5A No. 7 Mauldin on Saturday at the Charleston Shootout.
The teams played to a scoreless draw in a physical match in which both teams had difficulty creating scoring chances before Mauldin converted three penalties to May River’s one in the shootout.
The Sharks outshot Mauldin 18-13 and had an 8-3 edge in shots on goal, but May River was unable to find the back of the net until the shootout.

The Sharks (1-1) will play Stratford at 3 p.m. Sunday to wrap up the tournament.
