May River’s boys clinched the No. 3 seed from Region 8-3A with a 56-44 road win over Battery Creek on Friday, knocking the Dolphins out of playoff contention.
The Sharks raced out to a 23-8 lead after one quarter and held off a second-half charge from the Dolphins.

Harry Cash scored 17 points, Jimmie Green added 12, and James Layman had eight to lead the Sharks.
Jaeon Allen scored 15 points, and Obie Wilson added 11 to lead the Dolphins.

May River (6-10, 3-4) hosts Wade Hampton at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
Battery Creek (3-17, 1-7) has completed its season.
