Hilton Head Prep kept its region title hopes alive with a dominant 54-7 victory over visiting Northwood Academy on Friday.
The Dolphins jumped out to a 39-0 halftime lead and rolled to the easy victory, putting them in position to earn at least a share of the region title if they can win at rival Hilton Head Christian Academy next week.
Stone McDonald was 9-of-16 passing for 183 yards and three touchdowns and added 62 yards and a score on the ground to lead the Dolphins’ explosive offensive effort.
Carson King caught three passes for 81 yards and two touchdowns, and Tyrone Calloway had three grabs for 75 yards and a score along with an interception on defense. Tommy Stauffer had a 75-yard punt return touchdown and added 41 yards on four carries, and Trevor Weldon was 6-of-6 on PATs and booted a 25-yard field goal.
Will Gray had six tackles and an interception to anchor a strong defensive effort.
The Dolphins (4-5, 2-1) need a win at HHCA next week to claim at least a share of the region crown, and they could win it outright with a win and an Orangeburg Prep loss to Northwood.
