Hilton Head Prep volleyball picked up two wins this week, sweeping visiting St. Andrew’s on Tuesday and winning a tough, five-set match at Colleton Prep on Thursday.
The Dolphins rolled to a 3-0 (25-14, 25-13, 25-17) win in the non-region match against St. Andrew’s. Ashley Wilmot had a team-high seven kills, Gabby Bettez added six kills, three aces, and 11 assists, and Annie Braun had four aces and 12 digs. Gracie Palumbo-Alkire had another big night at the net with five blocks, while Haylee Hopman added 12 digs, and Ella Clark had nine assists.
HHP earned a key region victory at Colleton Prep, holding off the Warhawks’ rally for a 3-2 (20-25, 25-22, 25-15, 14-25, 15-10) victory.
Madison Denny led the attack with 14 kills and three blocks, and Bettez had an outstanding all-around match with 18 assists, eight kills, seven digs, and four aces. Palumbo-Alkire continued to dominate in the middle with five kills and six blocks, Wilmot added four kills and 13 digs, Braun had 16 digs and five aces, Hopman picked up 26 digs, and Clark handed out 13 assists in a great all-around team effort.
The Dolphins host Patrick Henry for a non-region match Monday.
