John Paul II was unable to secure its first win of the season Friday, falling 53-19 at Orangeburg Prep.
The Golden Warriors were within 12-7 early in the second quarter before the Indians tacked on three touchdowns to take a 32-7 lead. JPII pulled within 32-13 at halftime but didn’t get any closer.
Jeremiah Young was 8-of-20 passing for 113 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions and added 98 yards and a TD on 14 carries. Reco Anderson rushed 14 times for 89 yards and a TD, and Mark Knight had six catches for 84 yards and a score.
Josh Horton tallied 17 tackles to lead JPII’s defense.
The Golden Warriors (0-6) travel to Northwood Academy next Friday.
