Former Hilton Head Island resident Hayley Carter captured her first WTA $250K doubles title on Saturday at the Tashkent Open in Uzbekistan.
Carter and partner Luisa Stefani of Brazil defeated American Sabrina Santamaria and Slovenia’s Dalila Jakupovic 6-3, 7-6(4) to claim the $12,300 winner’s purse.
Carter, 24, moved from Columbia to Hilton Head Island at age 11 and trained at Smith Stearns Tennis Academy for seven years before playing collegiately at the University of North Carolina.
