The host Beaufort County All-Stars opened the Junior Dixie Boys (13U) State Tournament with a bang Saturday, routing Moncks Corner 21-0 at Oscar Frazier Park in Bluffton.
Kevin Brown allowed one hit over four scoreless innings, and Ross Putnam gave up just one hit over two frames of relief to combine on the shutout.
Kyler McKeever led the offensive outburst, going 3-for-5 with a homer, four runs, and five RBIs, while Dietrich Shuford was 2-for-4 with a double, three runs, and three RBIs, and Braydon Dineen was 3-for-3 with three runs and an RBI. Logan Brutcher and Will Corn each added two RBIs.
Beaufort County received a bye Sunday and will play at 7 p.m. Monday. The double-elimination tournament continues through Thursday.
