Youth Baseball: Hilton Head AAA Stays Alive With 2nd Walk-Off Win

Hilton Head rallied for its second walk-off win in three games at the Dixie Youth Baseball AAA (9-10) State Tournament, scoring twice in the bottom of the sixth to claim a 4-3 victory over Lake Marion on Monday in Anderson.

Jackson Reilley drove in the tying run and scored the winning run on a steal of home to lift Hilton Head to its second dramatic victory of the tournament.

Hilton Head took the early lead on Ben Eikenberry’s RBI double that scored Reilley in the first and made it 2-0 when Alan Wolf III doubled home John Ontal IV in the third, but Lake Marion rallied for three runs with two outs in the fourth to take the lead.

Grady Cherrington-Dunton led off the sixth with a triple and scored the tying run on Reilley’s single up the middle. Hilton Head loaded the bases with an error and an intentional walk, and after a strikeout for the second out, Reilley swiped home in a rundown to win it.

Hilton Head will try to stave off elimination again at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in a rematch with Central-Clemson.
