Bluffton American completed its undefeated run through the Dixie Youth Baseball AA Machine Pitch (7-8) State Tournament with a 3-0 win over Blythewood on Tuesday in Florence, claiming the first Dixie Youth Baseball state championship in Bluffton history.
Bluffton American pushed across all three of its runs in the third inning, scoring a pair on Noah Sepulveda’s two-run double and another when Derek Blesie doubled home Sepulveda later in the inning. The defense took care of the rest, shutting out Blythewood without allowing an extra-base hit.
Sepulveda, Nicholas Carpenter, and Trevor Wolfe each had two hits to lead Bluffton American, which outscored its six opponents in the tournament 54-12 and will now head to Ruston, Louisiana, from July 26-30 for the Dixie World Series.
The South Carolina state champs will face the state champions from Louisiana and North Carolina in pool play on July 27 with the top two teams from each pool advancing to the eight-team championship bracket beginning July 28.
