May River erupted for a pair of 12-run innings to break open a tied game and claim a 27-3 win over host Battery Creek in Region 8-3A play Tuesday.
Three May River pitchers combined on a no-hitter, but the Dolphins took advantage of two walks, a hit batsman, and an error to push across three runs in the first and take a 3-1 lead. The Sharks tied it with two runs in the second, then plated 12 each in the third and fifth to blow it open.
Jack Hegan was 3-for-5 with a double, a triple, four RBIs, and five runs to lead the Sharks at the plate. Elijah Peter was 3-for-5 with three runs and four RBIs, Joseph Tapscott was 3-for-5 with four runs and three RBIs, Josh Patterson was 2-for-3 with two runs and three RBIs, and Niko Laing was 3-for-3 with a run and an RBI.
Kamryn Gleason pitched three innings to earn the win, while Zach Murdaugh and Blaine Clavel each pitched an inning to finish off the no-hitter.
The Sharks (6-3, 3-0) travel to Bluffton on Wednesday. The Dolphins (0-8, 0-1) travel to May River for the second game of the series on Friday.
