The honors continue to pile up for May River’s Ryan Humel, who on Friday was named the Class 3A Wrestler of the Year by the S.C. Wrestling Coaches Association.
Humel last week became the first individual state champion in May River’s three-year history when he won the 182-pound title at the SCHSL Class 3A State Championships in Anderson. He went 44-1 this season and finished his career with a 166-35 record, earning all-state honors three times with a pair of runner-up finishes in 2017 and 2018 before winning the title this season.
Humel will represent Team South Carolina in an all-star exhibition match against Team North Carolina tonight in North Myrtle Beach.
