May River boys soccer won a penalty shootout following a 1-1 draw with Mauldin on Saturday to advance to the championship game of the Charleston Soccer Shootout.
Chris Pineda scored the Sharks’ lone goal off an assist from Joel Fleek, but Mauldin punched in a rebound off a free kick in the 76th minute to tie it.
Rafa Zavala, Mikey Chappelear, Nick Lewis, and Chris Hernandez converted their penalties and Mauldin missed two chances to propel the Sharks to the final.
Matthew Turner made four saves in goal for May River, which plays JL Mann in the title game at 3 p.m. Sunday.
