HS Wrestling: Humel, Atkins Picked For North-South Classic

May River’s Ryan Humel and Battery Creek’s Syncere Atkins have been selected to compete in the 2019 Best Western North-South All-Star Classic on March 1-2 at North Myrtle Beach High School.

Atkins will wrestle for the Class 4A/3A South team. Humel was selected as the 182-pound representative to the Team South Carolina squad that will face Team North Carolina in a dual match.

Humel is the first May River wrestler to be selected for the North-South All-Star Classic, which is the second-longest running all-star high school wrestling even in the nation.

Both Humel and Atkins are among 26 area wrestlers competing in the SCHSL State Championships on Friday and Saturday in Anderson.
