John Paul II’s girls held off a second-half charge from visiting Beaufort Academy for a 43-41 win Wednesday.
Abby Quinty scored a team-high 14 points — including the game-winning shot off an assist from Katie Leigh Floyd — to lead the Golden Warriors, who clinched at least a second-place finish in the region and preserved their hopes of claiming a share of the region title. Jasmine Hamilton collected 11 points and six rebounds and anchored the defense for JPII, and Jazmine Sanchez added nine points, eight rebounds, and four steals.
Amelia Huebel scored 16 points and EmilyAnn Hiers added 11 for the Eagles, who erased a 12-point halftime deficit to tie it in the final minute.
JPII (16-7, 6-1) will host first-place Hilton Head Christian Academy on Friday. BA (13-5, 3-4) wraps up regular-season play Friday against Thomas Heyward.
