HS Golf: Sharks Qualify For 3A State Meet

May River’s girls golf team punched its ticket to the SCHSL Class 3A State Championship with a fourth-place finish at Monday’s Lower State qualifier.

The Sharks posted a team score of 346 at Cheraw State Park Golf Club, finishing two shots behind runner-up Gilbert (344) and one back of Bishop England (345). Oceanside Collegiate (302) claimed the team title.

Sydney Bowes led the way for May River, shooting 78 to finish eighth overall. Kylie Bowes (83) tied for 11th, and Hannah Harris (84) was 14th. Emma Luchessi (101) and Maya Williams (116) rounded out the lineup.

The Class 3A State Championship is Monday and Tuesday at Carolina Springs Golf Club in Fountain Inn.
