The Bluffton Badkatz are Junior Team Tennis state champions for the second year in a row.
The Badkatz claimed the South Carolina USTA 18U Intermediate title with a win over the Saluda Shoals Slammers on Saturday in Camden. The Bluffton team lost only one set all weekend and beat Saluda 119-19 in the finals.
The Badkatz now advance to the Southern Region championships from Aug. 9-13 in Rome, Ga. The same team advanced to sectionals in the 14U division last year.
Team members are: Lauren Harvey, Grace Saari, Margaret Zendzian, Alex Swetnam, Liam Beckler, Thor Pullon, Eden Mastriani-Levi, Hani’el Mastriani-Levi, Caldwell Tarleton, Blythe Tarleton, and Abby Schneider. The team is coached by Melanie Beckler.
