Legion Baseball: Ospreys’ Rally Falls Short

The American Legion Post 9 Beaufort Ospreys erased most of a six-run deficit before falling short in a 7-6 loss Wednesday at Goose Creek Post 166.

The Ospreys trailed 6-0 after one inning after making three errors in the opening frame, and it was 7-1 after three innings before Beaufort came clawing back.

Griffin Yeager’s two-run homer pulled the Ospreys within 7-6 with no outs in the sixth, and Ethan Graham followed with a single before a double play and a strikeout got Post 166 out of the jam.

Beaufort couldn’t mount another rally in the seventh, going down in order against Goose Creek closer Graham McCorry.

Wade Olivarri was 2-for-4 with two RBIs, and Jacob Anderson was 2-for-3 with an RBI for Beaufort.

The Ospreys (5-3, 3-1 League 1) are scheduled to play at Walterboro at 7 p.m. Thursday.
