Two big innings did in May River in a 14-7 loss at Gilbert in the Class 3A district tournament Saturday.
The Indians scored seven runs in the second inning and six in the sixth to hand the Sharks their first loss in the double-elimination tournament.
Gabby Ximenez was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, Hannah Manley was 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs, and Kylee Gleason was 1-for-3 with two RBIs for the Sharks.
Hayley Welsch took the loss on the mound, allowed eight earned runs and 11 hits in a complete game.
The Sharks will host Waccamaw in an elimination game Monday with the winner needing to beat Gilbert twice Wednesday to advance to the Lower State tournament.
