Former Thomas Heyward and USCB pitcher Ashlie Layman was named the NJCAA Region 10 Division I Coach of the Year on Friday.
Layman is in her first season as the head coach at Spartanburg Methodist, where she has led the Pioneers to a 28-20 overall record this season.
The Pioneers won their opener in the Region 10 Tournament on Friday, beating Monroe 6-1 in Sumter.
