John Paul II continued its push for a playoff spot with a 9-7 win over St. Andrew’s on Thursday – the Golden Warriors’ ninth straight victory.
Mark Tigges’ bases-clearing double highlighted a six-run fifth inning for the Golden Warriors, while Ray Johnson had two hits and two RBIs and Thomas Kender added two hits.
Kender earned the win in relief of Johnson, and Adrian Skipper nailed down the save with the help of Jack Jolley’s unassisted double play to end the game.
JPII (15-7, 6-4) hopes to earn a wild-card berth into the SCISA Class 2A playoff bracket, which should be released Friday.
