The USCB baseball team’s wild ninth-inning rally fell short in a 15-14 loss to Florida Memorial on Saturday.
The Sand Sharks swept a doubleheader Friday to claim the first two games of the Sun Conference series, but they were down 10-4 through seven innings in the finale.
USCB scored a run in the eighth, but the Lions scored five in the ninth for a seemingly insurmountable 15-5 lead. The Sand Sharks rallied for nine runs in the ninth, though, and had the tying run in scoring position before Florida Memorial sealed the win.
Alex Murphy went 2-for-4 with five RBIs, including a three-run homer in the ninth. Keith Olmo was 2-for-2 with two RBIs, and Noah Matthews and Kelvin Brito each went 3-for-4.
The Sand Sharks (5-7) play a non-conference game at Middle Georgia State at 3 p.m. Tuesday.
