Beaufort has produced another world-class junior weightlifter.
Dade Stanley was among 10 boys named to the USA Weightlifting squad for the 2018 Youth Pan-American Championships scheduled for June 3-10 in Palmira, Colombia, the organization announced Friday.
Stanley competed last weekend in the USA Weightlifting National Junior Championships in Spokane, Washington, and placed sixth in the 77-kg weight class. Stanley was one of two 16-year-old competitors in his weight class along with Dean Goad, who finished 12th in Spokane and also was named to the Pan-Am squad.
Beaufort already is on the world weightlifting map thanks to C.J. Cummings, who was named Friday to the U.S. squad for the 2018 Junior World Championships to be held July 7-14 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
